Named after David Sinton, this town is located in San Patricio County and has a total area of 2.2 square miles (all of it land). It was established in 1895, and it served as a station for the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad. The Welder Wildlife Refuge was established in 1954, and it covers 7,800 acres of land located approximately seven miles northwest of Sinton. From 1948 to 1958, Sinton was home to a semiprofessional baseball team that was sponsored by the Plymouth Oil Company, which performed a number of drilling operations on Welder Ranch located north of the town.

Sinton runs along US 77, which is going to be improved because it will become part of I-69 corridor. Some of them will involve upgrading the current four-lane highway to a four-lane divided freeway that will be better able to accommodate its growing population and increased traffic (including freight). An overpass will also be constructed at County Road 1196, which is part of a series of intersection improvements.
